Canopy is operated by Global Cloudr, Inc. We do not sell personal information for money.
We do, however, use Google Analytics advertising features — including remarketing — on our public website. These features share online identifiers with advertising platforms so we can show Canopy ads to people who have visited us. Under California law, that may count as “sharing” personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and you have the right to opt out. This page explains how.
What this does and does not cover
This applies to visitors to our public website, usecanopy.school.
It does not apply to information inside the Canopy application. Photos, story submissions, subscriber lists, rosters, and anything else a school puts into PhotoVault, Stories, Reach, Community, Create, or ASAP is never used for advertising, is never sold, and is never shared for advertising purposes. That data is processed only to provide the service to the school. See our Privacy Policy and Student Data Privacy commitments.
How to opt out
Send a Global Privacy Control signal. We honor GPC. Several browsers and extensions can send it automatically, and when we receive it we treat it as a valid opt-out — no form to fill in. This is the fastest method.
Opt out of Google Analytics. Google provides a browser opt-out add-on that stops Google Analytics from collecting data about you across sites.
Block or clear cookies. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies in their settings. Doing so will not affect your ability to use this website.
Ask us directly. Email us at the address on our Contact page with the subject “Do Not Sell or Share”. Tell us which browser and device you use so we can apply the request accurately. We will confirm when it is done.
Your other rights
If you are a California resident, you may also request to know what personal information we hold about you, and to have it corrected or deleted. Use the same contact method above.
We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights — you will receive the same service either way.
An authorized agent may submit a request on your behalf. We may ask for proof of authorization and may ask you to verify your identity directly.
